Note: this policy describes how the Fishtales website actually collects and uses data (contact form, Bókun bookings, Google Analytics 4, Google Ads with Enhanced Conversions, Consent Mode v2). It is a solid starting point but not legal advice, please have it reviewed by a privacy professional.

This website is operated by Fishtales, Bonaire Big Game Fishing, a sport-fishing charter based at Nautico Marina, Kralendijk, Bonaire (Caribbean Netherlands).

2. Scope
This policy explains what personal data we collect through this website, why, on what legal basis, who we share it with, and the rights you have. It applies to all visitors, including visitors from the EU/EEA whose data is protected under the GDPR.

We only collect what we need, and we do not sell your personal data.
4. Cookies & Consent Mode v2
We use cookies and similar technologies. Non-essential cookies (analytics and marketing) are only set after you consent via our cookie banner. Until you choose, analytics and advertising storage stay disabled by default (Google Consent Mode v2, ad_storage, analytics_storage, ad_user_data and ad_personalization are set to denied until you accept). 5. Advertising & Enhanced Conversions
When you consent to marketing, our advertising tags (Google Ads, via Google Tag Manager) may use Enhanced Conversions: to measure conversions more accurately, limited details you provide (such as your email, name or phone) can be hashed (irreversibly scrambled) in your browser and sent to Google to match a conversion to an ad click. This happens only with your consent and only in hashed form. Without marketing consent, it does not happen.
6. Who we share data with
- Google (Analytics 4 & Ads / Tag Manager), analytics and advertising measurement; may process data in the United States under appropriate safeguards (EU Standard Contractual Clauses / EU-US Data Privacy Framework).
- Bókun (a Tripadvisor company), our online booking platform, which processes your booking and, with its payment partners, your payment.
- Our payment provider, to process payments securely.
- WhatsApp / Meta, if you contact us via WhatsApp, your message is handled under WhatsApp’s own terms.
- Our hosting provider, to store and serve the website.
Each party only receives the data needed for its role.
7. International transfers
Some providers (notably Google) process data in the United States. Where personal data leaves the EU/EEA it is protected by appropriate safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and/or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
8. How long we keep it
- Contact/booking correspondence: as long as needed to serve you and meet legal obligations, then deleted.
- Booking & payment records: as required by tax and accounting rules.
- Analytics data: per the retention set in Google Analytics.
- Consent records: an anonymised proof-of-consent record (no raw IP or full identifier).
9. Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing, request portability, and withdraw consent anytime (e.g. by rejecting cookies). To make a request, email fishtales@bonairebiggamefishing.com. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
10. Children
This website and our charters are not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data online.
11. Changes
We may update this policy; the date below shows the latest version.
